Target Industry Clusters

In Chatham County’s Strategic Economic Development Plan, the Carolina Center for Competitive Economies recommended that the EDC focus attraction activities on seven clusters. These clusters were selected by the Economic Development Strategic Task Force due in part to their high wage levels and growth potential; in addition, Chatham County already has a competitive advantage in attracting businesses in these clusters. For more information on the cluster selection process, please see Chapter 5 of the Strategic Plan.

Chatham County and the EDC will target attraction efforts to recruit industries in the following clusters:

The EDC is currently examining opportunities to implement a pilot program for strategic cluster development. Once the program has a finalized structure and implementation strategy, the EDC would like to welcome Chatham County citizens to get involved with recruitment efforts to target select industries.
