PITTSBORO, NC – June 27, 2017 – Jamie Vaughn, vice president of Chatham Economic Development Corporation (EDC), recently completed the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute (OU EDI) certificate program. The program, established in 1962, is the only executive, professional level program of its kind in the United States.
Vaughn attended both online and live classes that covered subjects from finance and real estate development to entrepreneurship and land development. He completed the 117 hours of coursework to receive his certificate earlier this year.
“I appreciate the Chatham EDC providing this opportunity to expand my economic development knowledge with OU EDI,” said Vaughn. “I learned an incredible amount and look forward to applying it to our work in Chatham County.”
Chatham EDC President Kyle Touchstone added, “Completing this coursework elevates our economic development work for Chatham County, and we’re proud of Jamie for this achievement.”
The certification qualifies him to sit for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam. CEcD is the highest designation in the economic development industry and held by approximately 1,100 economic developers worldwide.
