Siler City — Town Manager Bryan Thompson announced today that the Town of Siler City has been awarded a $2 million grant from the NC Department of Environmental Quality as a result of the Town’s latest application for CDBG-I funding.
Thompson said the grant award is planned for making improvements to mitigate inflow and infiltration within the Town’s sewer collection system. It is a 100 percent grant, requiring no local match, and will cover the cost for planning/design and construction.
The next steps in the process include issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for grant administration and issuing a request for qualifications (RFQ) for engineering services. Staff will be putting these documents together to bring before the Town Board for their consideration.
“The Town is excited about this opportunity and looks forward to working through this project,” Thompson said.
