While Chatham County has a relatively high physician to population ratio of one doctor per 1,374 residents, high quality medical care is available within only a short drive of Chatham County’s community centers.
In partnership with the UNC Health Care System, Chatham Hospital is bringing nationally recognized medical care to residents in Chatham County and beyond. In July 2008, Chatham Hospital opened a brand new facility in Siler City at the crossroads of US 64 and 421. As the first anchor tenant of the Central Carolina Business Campus, Chatham Hospital is playing an important role in the future of economic development in Chatham County by creating research opportunities and economic linkages in Chatham County’s growing health services cluster.
From northeastern Chatham County, nationally acclaimed health care is available from the UNC Hospital System in Chapel Hill and the Duke Health System in Fearrington Village and Durham. These health care providers, along with private providers and medical facilities within the county, are located within a twenty minute drive of many of Chatham County’s northeastern residents.
