With pre-application meetings, town and county departments gather to provide business owners and entrepreneurs the opportunity to troubleshoot any issues he or she might encounter when starting or expanding a business.

These meetings are most effective when you already have a property in mind. If you do not have a specific property, the pre-app meetings can guide you with input about the type of property to look for specific to your business.

The departments that attend the meetings vary, but often include zoning, planning, environmental health, environmental protection and erosion control, central permitting, building inspections, fire marshal, economic development, and tourism. Additional departments may attend depending on the type of proposed business attending the pre-app meeting.
