PITTSBORO, NC – September 1, 2021 – Small businesses in Chatham are now eligible for additional support for COVID-19 recovery. The Chatham Economic Development Corporation is launching the Chatham EDC Small Business Grant program, awarding grants of up to $5,000 to local small businesses.

The purpose of the Chatham EDC Small Business Fund is to assist small businesses in Chatham County with their recovery from impacts of COVID-19 restrictions as well as to stimulate investment and business expansion in Chatham County.

The priority of the fund is to promote retention, expansion, and growth. Businesses with less than 50 employees that are located within the county and do not owe any taxes, fees, or fines are eligible for the program. Businesses may make small requests, $1,500 or less, or large requests, at $1,501 or greater, capped at $5,000.

Grants requests will be considered according to how many of the program criteria are met. As a grant, the award does not need to be repaid. Applications are due October 15th and will be considered in the order received.
