A new mixed-use development spanning hundreds of acres is coming to what is currently a farm in Chatham County.

A pair of local developers purchased 494.4 acres in the county for nearly $19.6 million, according to two deeds filed Dec. 16 – that comes to around $39,600 per acre. The land, which has been in the Reeves family for years, sits on the west side of Pittsboro between U.S. Highway 64 Business and Alston Chapel Road.

The buyers are Edward Holmes Jr.Carter Keller and Buddy Keller (Carter’s father), who are active developers in the halo counties of the Greater Triangle. Holmes called the land “the premier property on the west side of Pittsboro.”
